Land Rover roof racks, handmade in the UK

Every roof rack here is built by MCB 4x4 from steel in their Huddersfield workshop, where they have been making Land Rover roof racks since 2004. Racks are made for the Land Rover Defender, Discovery 1 and Discovery 2, the Ineos Grenadier, Ford Ranger and Nissan Navara. Each one is made to order, then zinc primed and powder coated in satin black. They are lighter than most aluminium racks.

Which roof rack do you need?

  • Flat roof rack. Exactly what it sounds like: a flat platform with nothing above the base of the rack. It sits around 50mm above the roof, so you can still use multi-storey car parks and most garages, and makes a strong base for a roof tent, roof box, sand ladders or general gear. Defender 90 · Defender 110 · 110 Crew Cab · Discovery 2

  • Expedition roof rack. Has an upper rail around the whole rack. This makes it easier to keep smaller boxes, bags and jerry cans on the roof, but it adds height. Defender 90 · Defender 110 · 110 Crew Cab · Discovery 2

  • Roof tent rack. Has an upper rail around the front only, so it sits halfway between a flat rack and an expedition rack. The front rail protects the tent from branches. Defender 90 · Defender 110 · Discovery 2

  • Half roof rack. A smaller rack, useful when you only need to carry a few bits, such as a spare wheel, a roof box or lights, leaving the rest of the roof clear. Defender 110 · Discovery 2

  • Xander roof rack. Upper rails like the expedition rack, but on the sides only. The front and rear are left open, so it is easy to carry and tie down things longer than the rack, such as ladders or lengths of timber. Available for the Defender 90, Defender 110 and 110 Crew Cab. Roof rack questions

Will a flat roof rack fit in a multi-storey car park?
The flat racks sit around 50mm above the roof, so you can still use multi-storey car parks and most garages. Expedition, roof tent and Xander racks are taller because of their upper rails.

Which rack should I choose?
Go flat if you want a low platform with nothing above the base. Go expedition if you carry smaller boxes, bags or jerry cans and want a rail all the way round. The roof tent rack has a rail around the front only, to protect the tent from branches. If you carry long items like ladders or timber, the Xander rack has side rails with an open front and rear.

How long does a rack take?
Every rack is made to order. Lead time: 3-5 Weeks (depending on area).

Can I have something custom?
Yes. If you need custom mounts or something a bit different, get in touch before ordering and we will come back to you with a price.
