A replacement grease nipple for the Land Rover Defender pedal box. If your Defender pedal is squeaking, creaking or feels stiff, a dry pedal box pivot is one of the most common causes, and greasing it is the cheapest first fix.
The pedal pivots inside the pedal box are meant to be greased, but on older Defenders the original nipples are often corroded, painted over, blocked or missing altogether. The pivot runs dry and you get the familiar squeak every time you press the clutch or brake pedal.
Fitting a new nipple and pumping in fresh grease usually quietens a squeaky pedal straight away, and stops the pivot seizing. A seized pivot makes the pedals stiff and inconsistent and wears the pivot bushes faster, so it is one of the simplest bits of preventative maintenance on a Defender.
